Face-Neck Lift surgery is a solution designed to address visible signs of aging. When many people look in the mirror, they begin to notice the first effects of aging on their faces. The first signs are often wrinkles, followed by sagging of the facial tissues.

Sagging of the cheeks toward the jawline, lowering of the eyebrow corners, and the appearance of loose tissue under the chin are part of a natural process that develops over time and may vary from person to person. Gravity plays an important role in these changes, while skin structure, genetics, weight fluctuations, and sun exposure may also contribute.

What Is Face-Neck Lift Surgery?

The main surgical treatment for sagging in the face and neck area is Face Lift Surgery. The extent of the procedure may vary according to the areas that need correction.

In some patients, a Mini Face Lift may be sufficient, while others may require a Full Face-Neck Lift. The choice of procedure depends on the overall harmony of the face and the areas that need improvement.

One of the main aims of the surgery is to create smooth transitions between the treated areas and the surrounding facial structures. For this reason, upper and lower eyelid procedures and fat injections may also be performed together with Face-Neck Lift surgery when appropriate.

The Surgery

Before Face-Neck Lift surgery, patients are generally asked not to consume food or beverages for approximately 6 hours. After this fasting period, patients who are admitted to the hospital are taken to their rooms and undergo a final evaluation by the surgeon and anesthesiology team.

At this stage, photographs are taken and surgical markings are made. After a sedative medication is administered to reduce tension and stress, the patient is taken to the operating room.

The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 4 hours.

Post-Operative Period

After the surgery, patients generally wear a supportive facial mask. Once recovery from anesthesia is complete, the patient is taken back to the room and pain is managed with prescribed analgesics.

A small drain may be used because of the possibility of bleeding after facelift surgery. This drain is usually removed within approximately 2 days.

Swelling is common after facelift surgery. Despite the appearance of the procedure, severe pain is not typically expected and discomfort can generally be controlled with medication.

Patients who stay in the hospital overnight are usually discharged the following day. Showering may generally be possible from around the 4th day, and patients may return to their daily routine from approximately the 7th day, depending on their recovery and doctor's recommendations.

Swelling gradually decreases over time and may take up to approximately 1 month to resolve.
