The type of Tummy Tuck Surgery is determined with careful examination of the patient. In patients who have adequate skin tissue in the upper abdomen, the more common preferences are Full Tummy Tuck Surgery. However, if sagging is only under the belly button, the Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery will be more proper. Similar to full Tummy Tuck Surgery, I often combine liposuction in this operation, and in this way, I make the upper abdomen skin and waist circumference, which we will not stretch, become harmonious with the lower part.
In Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery, the incisions are planned in the shortest size to remain in the underwear; and the drawings are shown to the patient in the preoperative period.
The Surgery
In Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery, the patient is asked not to consume food and beverages 6 hours before the surgery. After this fasting period, patients who are admitted to the hospital are taken to their rooms; and are evaluated for the last time by the anesthesiologist and me. At this stage, firstly, photographs are taken and surgery drawings are made. Following the sedative drug administration, patients who have decreased tension and stress are taken to the surgery.
The surgery is carried out under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2 hours.
Post-operative Period
When you recover after the surgery, you will have a corset on your abdomen. For safety reasons, I often use drains in patients who undergo Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery; and I remove them on approximately the 2nd day.
The biggest reason for the patients who have hesitations for having Tummy Tuck Surgery is the fear of experiencing pain. Unlike the expectations, this surgery is not a surgery in which you will experience severe pain. In addition, the analgesics (painkillers) that will be applied post-operatively will relieve your complaints at a great deal.
I discharge my patients who stay in the hospital one night after the surgery on the following day. As of the 4th day you can take bath; and as of the 7th day, you can return to your normal life.
