Mastopexy makes possible to eliminate the image with incisions carried out only around the brown area in the breast or to include a part of the skin parallel to the size of the sagging (lollipop incision). In the meantime, it is possible to bring the breast to the desired size and image by employing silicone implants or by using their own breast tissue of patients who want “fleshy” breasts because of loss in the breast volume (augmentation mastopexy).

Saggy breasts constitute one of the most common aesthetic worries for women. In this problem, which is faced especially after birth and breastfeeding periods, patients often complain that their breasts go downwards, and the tips rotate downwards, and they become empty. Aside from this, when we examine women who have not given birth yet in terms of breast size, it is seen that sagging is not a very expected situation in small breasts; however, it is inevitable that large breasts will sag in time because of the gravitational pull.

The Surgery

In Mastopexy, the patient is asked not to consume foods or beverages 6 hours before the surgery. After this fasting period, patients who are admitted to the hospital are taken to their rooms; and are evaluated for the last time by the anesthetist and me. At this stage, firstly, photographs are taken and surgery drawings are made. Following the sedative drug administration, patients who have decreased tension and stress are taken to the surgery.

The surgery is carried out under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours.

The Post-Operative Period

When you recover after the surgery, there will be a bandage on your chest, and shaping underwear on this bandage. I do not often use drains in Mastopexy. However, I usually make this decision during surgery. You will be taken to your room when you recover.

The biggest reason for the patients who are afraid of Mastopexy is the fear of having pain. Contrary to expectations, Mastopexy is not a surgery in which you will have serious pain. In addition, postoperative analgesics will relieve your complaints at a great deal.

I discharge my patients who stay in the hospital one night following the surgery on the next day. As of the 4th day, you can take bath; and as of the 7th day, you can return to your normal life.
