FEMALE GENITAL AESTHETIC SURGERY
Female genital aesthetic surgery has increased significantly in recent years. Genital concerns may lead to confidence problems and sexual reluctance in some women. With increasing awareness of available surgical methods, more patients are considering treatment options for these concerns.
What Is Female Genital Aesthetic Surgery?
Problems in the genital area may include enlargement or sagging of the genital lips, volume loss, asymmetry, color changes, and excessive widening, which may sometimes occur after vaginal delivery.
The main treatment approaches include labiaplasty for genital lip problems, laser applications for color changes, and vaginoplasty for vaginal widening.
Labiaplasty
In labiaplasty surgery, if excessive tissue or asymmetry is present in the vaginal lips, the excess tissue may be removed to create a more balanced appearance.
If the vaginal lips are smaller than desired, fat injection techniques may be used to increase volume and improve contour.
Vaginoplasty
In vaginoplasty surgery, the aim is to narrow the vaginal entrance and vaginal canal. The muscle structures forming the posterior wall of the vagina may also be tightened to achieve the desired result.
Anesthesia and Surgery Duration
Genital aesthetic surgery is often performed under local anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. Before surgery, medications may be administered to help reduce anxiety and improve patient comfort.
Patients who will undergo sedation anesthesia are generally asked not to consume food or beverages for at least 6 hours before the operation.
The genital aesthetic surgery procedure takes approximately 45 minutes.
Post-Operative Period
Obvious scars are generally not visible after genital aesthetic surgery. Patients may be discharged on the same day or the following day, depending on the procedure and recovery.
Patients may generally shower after the 2nd day and may resume sexual intercourse after approximately 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the surgical procedure and their doctor's recommendations.
Mild pain and a tingling sensation may occur during the early postoperative period. These symptoms may usually be controlled with pain medication prescribed by the doctor.
Antibiotics and painkillers may be recommended during the first postoperative week according to the treatment plan.
