What Is Botox?
Botox is a medication containing a toxin produced by a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. It works by temporarily reducing the activity of the muscles in the treated area. Its effects are temporary and do not produce permanent or long-lasting changes.
Where Is Botox Applied?
Botox can be applied to different areas of the face and body depending on the patient's needs. Common treatment areas include:
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Lines between the eyebrows
- Wrinkles around the eyes
- The outer eyebrow area
- The nose and surrounding area
- Neck wrinkles
- Excessive underarm sweating
- Excessive sweating of the palms
- Excessive sweating of the soles of the feet
How Is Botox Applied?
Botox treatment is a simple and relatively quick procedure. Before the application, a local anesthetic cream may be applied to the treatment area to improve comfort.
The procedure usually takes approximately 10–15 minutes. Patients can generally return to their normal daily activities after the application.
The effects of Botox usually begin to become noticeable within approximately one week. The duration of the effect varies from person to person, but it lasts for around six months on average.
Natural Results in Botox Treatment
One of the most important considerations in Botox applications is maintaining a natural facial expression. The aim should be to soften unwanted lines while preserving the natural movement and character of the face.
For this reason, the treatment plan and dosage should be determined individually. The appropriate injection points and dosage may vary according to facial anatomy, muscle activity, and the patient's expectations.
Applications performed using standard doses and identical injection points for every patient may lead to unnatural or exaggerated facial expressions. A personalized approach is therefore important in achieving a balanced and natural-looking result.
Who Should Perform Botox Treatment?
Botox should be administered by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional with experience in facial anatomy and injection techniques. Before undergoing treatment, patients should discuss the procedure, treatment areas, expected results, and possible risks with their doctor.
