Classic Liposuction

Liposuction is a general name that is given to the suction process of fat accumulations in different parts of the body with negative pressure systems. Liposuction surgery is not a weight loss surgery, but it is a reshaping surgery. The basic target in Liposuction surgery is the evacuation of the fat cells that are accumulated in the abdomen, waist-back, inside of the leg, basin, knee circumference, and chin area.

Liposuction surgery is carried out within a closed mechanism with the help of cannulas sent in with 3 mm wide incisions made from different areas. Meanwhile, some fluids that contain anesthetics are given so that both the possibility of bleeding during surgery is minimized and the patients do not feel pain following the surgery.

Pre-Operative Period

In my patients who consider Liposuction surgery, firstly, I determine the Body Mass Index, the areas with fat accumulation, the expectation of the patients, whether they have had any applications before, and evaluate the skin quality. Parallel to these observations, I determine whether the patient is a suitable candidate for liposuction; and if the patient is not suitable, I plan what I can do as an alternative. Meanwhile, I explain the risks of the surgery and the possibility of complications.

After the surgery steps are clarified, I question the general health status of my patient, plan the anesthesia tests, and determine the date and time of the surgery when I do not detect any problems.

The Surgery

In liposuction surgery, the patient is asked not to consume foods or beverages 6 hours before the surgery time. After this fasting period, patients who are admitted to hospital are taken to their rooms and are evaluated by the anesthetist and me for the last time. At this stage, firstly, photographs are taken and surgery drawings are made. After the application of a sedative drug, patients who have reduced tension and stress are taken to the surgery.

The surgery is carried out under general anesthesia, and the duration of the surgery varies between 1 and 3 hours.

Post-Operative Period

There will be a shaping corset on your body after you recover from the surgery. I discharge my patients who stay in hospital one night after the surgery on the next day. You can take bath as of the 3rd day, and return to your normal life as of the 5-6th day.

The biggest worry of patients who hesitate to undergo Liposuction surgery is the rumors among people claiming that new fat tissues will come out again instead of the fat taken. The target of the liposuction surgery is to remove the fat cells from the body. The fat cells in the body basically do not increase in number, they increase in volume. For this reason, after liposuction, it is very difficult to have your former appearance because most of your fat cells will be removed.
