Burn Reconstruction is one of my special interest areas in plastic surgery applications.
Burns is one of the most important fields of activity in Plastic Surgery. While the purpose in the early period of treatment of burns is often to save lives and ensure that the least damage is left to the future. In further periods, multiple reconstructive surgeries are required to correct the damages caused by burns. The skin bands that occur after burns in the hands, eyelids, mouths cause functional problems as well as visual defects. The complaints of patients are reduced at a significant level to enable that they can do their daily activities much more easily and without being dependent on others with different reconstructive procedures to be applied in these areas.
There are no classical treatment algorithms for reconstructive surgeries after burns. The general approach is selecting the technique that will give the patient the best function in the short and long terms, and leave the least scar tissues. For this reason, burn reconstructive surgeries are planned separately for each individual.
Burn Reconstruction is one of my special interest areas in plastic surgery applications. I have applied many surgeries related to hair losses and functional repairs particularly due to old burns. After this period, my personal observation is that burn reconstruction is a troublesome process and requires close attention and patience. For this reason, it is useful that patients who decide for these kinds of surgeries consider the long treatment periods.
