Breast lift Process also known as Mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to change the shape of the breasts. During the surgery excess skin gets removed and the breast tissue reshaped. The surgery reduces sagging and lifts the position of the nipples. The size of the areola can also be reduced.

Breasts can lose elasticity and firmness, there can be different reasons for that;

  • Pregnancy: During pregnancy, the ligaments that support the breasts might stretch as the breasts get fuller and heavier. This stretching might lead to sagging breasts after pregnancy — whether or not breast-feeding the baby.
  • Weight fluctuations: Changes in the weight can cause the breast skin to stretch and lose elasticity.
  • Gravity: Over time, gravity causes ligaments within the breasts to stretch and sag.

Breast lift process won’t significantly change the size of the breasts. Generally it can be performed in combination with breast augmentation or breast reduction.

The reasons of considering breast lift surgery are;

  • Breast sagging, the breasts lost shape and volume or got flatter and longer
  • The nipples and areola point downward
  • Due to the proportion of the breasts, the areola stretched out
  • One of the breasts falls lower than the other

A breast lift is not suitable for everyone. If pregnancy is been considering at any point in the future, breast lift must be delayed. During pregnancy the breasts could stretch and change the results of the lift. Breast-feeding is a consideration as well. Although breast-feeding is usually possible after a breast lift, some women might have difficulty producing enough milk. While a breast lift is often done on breasts of any size, women with smaller sagging breasts will likely have longer lasting results. Larger breasts are heavier, which makes them more likely to sag again.
